Bedbugs are insects inhabiting the human home. Therefore anyone could get them, even you, and there are many different ways. Here are a few examples of how bedbugs can get in:
- with old furniture; if you bought a used sofa, wardrobe or chair – you’re in the risk of getting bedbugs;
- with old books; bedbugs can get into you your home with old books where they hide in daytime;
- from your disadvantaged neighbors. Almost any block has people living in it, who are not very careful about their own hygiene, to put it mildly; and they care even less about how clean their home is. If they have bedbugs, those insects could crawl into your home through cracks in slabs;
- you or your friends could bring them home on clothes – it’s quite easy to catch these ‘passengers’;
- workmen that you hired to do some works in your home can also carry in bedbugs on their clothes or in tool boxes;
- renovation works done by your neighbors could cause bedbugs to migrate away from that place, choosing, among others, your own home to stay.
There are other ways of getting bedbugs, not listed here. Just remember that keeping your home clean, letting a lot of sunshine in and throwing away old stuff that you no longer need can reduce the risk of getting those pesky parasites.
